The City the Earth Needs: A Posthuman Polis of Spiritual Anarchism

This talk outlines the prescient vision of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother regarding the polis of the future that can manifest the aspirations of (post-)modernity. The Mother initiated an implementation of this vision in 1968 in Auroville. The talk relates this implementation to modernist aspirations and experiments that formed a preparation and a prelude and sketches the conditions for its achievement. By doing so, it underlines its fragility and indicates some of the dangers that may hijack and/or destroy its possibility
